Let’s Celebrate Carolina Musicians!
For nine years, WSGE Radio has proclaimed August Carolina Music Month. Thus, we are featuring two outstanding new releases as our Albums of the Month by Gov’t Mule. Our Rock, Rhythm and Blues album is Piece Like a River that was released in June 2023 and for Highway 321 Blues is Heavy Load Blues that came out in 2022. Warren Haynes, an Asheville, NC native formed the band in 1994.
All month we will pay homage to the great music, past and present by giving you an opportunity to win a three CD Pack featuring some of your favorite Carolina artists. All you have to do is correctly answer our music trivia questions. By winning a pack of CDs you will automatically be entered in our drawing for our Carolina grant prize that will include four VIP tickets to the NC Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony that will be held on October 19 in Mooresville, NC; a pair of tickets to the Blue Bear Music Fest, September 8 – 9 in Boone, NC; a North Carolina Breakfast Crate with country ham and WSGE Swag.
Although the Carolinas have produced many artists/bands that have made a significant impact on the cultural landscape of this country, it is important to also recognize emerging artists that are striving to blaze a path for themselves. Starting Thursday, Aug. 10 at 12 p.m. we will feature independent artists that have submitted songs to 91 Seconds of Fame. At WSGE we are committed to supporting independent music. Please make sure you check out their music and vote for the songs you like best!
Listen to The Artist Spotlight with Regan Brown or Tim Greene on Tuesdays at noon for interviews that will allow you to gain insight into the life and music of the following:
